Obituary for Archie McDaniel

Archie L McDaniel was born on June 21, 1929 in Trenton, North Carolina. He was the oldest son of late Fred and Rosaner McDaniel. It was in Trenton, North Carolina where joined King's Chapel FWB Church and began a lifelong walk with Jesus Christ. Archie migrate from Trenton to New York City seeking a new beginning.
Archie found various work in New York before settling in with IBEW 64 Union where he worked until retirement as a Machinist. He was active in his community in a variety of ways. He became the president of CW Housing HDFC from 1973 until 1998 where he converted his building into one of the first successful Cooperative units in his neighborhood.
Archie was a gifted musician and singer who used his talent for the work of the Lord. This gift allowed him to sing with several gospel groups. He started in Trenton, NC with The Music Masters and later joined the Meek Gospel Aires in New York City. He sand with them for 47 years and was the last surviving member. He continued as a soloist known throughout the East Coast for his interpretation of gospel hymns. He was also a choir director and singer for Mt. Bethel Church for over 40 years. His magnetic personality, leadership, and wise counsel left young people with the "ARCHIE TOUCH" that will never be forgotten! He continued to perform with Little Widows Mite Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Archie will be greatly missed.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, (brother) William (two sons) Robert and Louis.
Archie leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories (brother) Leslie Jones (two sisters) Christean Green and Jessie McDaniel (one daughter) Sandra Crawley (grandson) Calvin Sampson (a devoted Godson Derrick Burrison) (a committed caretaker Cathy Richardson, a host of nieces, nephews, family members, Godchildren, church member, other relatives and friends
