Obituary for Ethel Byrd

Our Saint Nicholas Matriarch Mrs. Ethel Byrd was giving us by Mrs. Margie Riggs and Mr. Buster Campbell on September 5, 1929 in Texas. In 1949 she moved to New York where she met and fell in love with William Byrd who soon became her hus,band out of that Union they raised 5 children. Her love spilled over into the community raising many of the 80's babies. For 27 years Ethel maintained and supervised a Community Center located in the Bronx until her retirement.
Upon retirement Mrs. Byrd continued to be a driving force in her Saint Nicholas Community where she affectionally became known as Mama Byrd. Mama Byrd you would often see her riding the children on her scooter, she also took pleasure enjoying herself with her friends, and making sure evewone around her enjoyed themselves, going to Deals. Mama Byrd loved a good cookout, she was a straight shooter in giving advise whether you like it or not (her famous saying was "WHOWHOOD)
Mama Byrd health started to decline but she was still very active with the different generation that she was consistently involved with. On October 27, 2018 God peacefully came Mama Byrd to her heavenly home, she was among family and friends.
Ethel Byrd was preceded in death by her mother Margie Riggs, (father) Buster Campbell, her (husband) William Byrd, (son) William Byrd Jr. (daughters) Emma Jean and Priscilla Byrd) (bothers) Ronald Collens, John Burton Charles Campbell Jackson, (Sister) Rose Campbell Jackson).
Ethel Byrd leaves to cherish her precious memories (Daughter) Lisa (Harold) Byrd Tilley (son) Jeffrey (Susan) Byrd (Grandsons) David, Gregory ,Jeffrey Jr., Jason, Davon. Ryan. and Robert (Granddaughters) Tanya, Yavette, Quatps. Valeria, Alphati. (Great grandchildren) Isiah. Amari, Lonnie, Naviah, Mannie, Conor, Case, Taliah, Charmer, Aiden, Zakari, (great-grand children) Parrish Montague, Mark A. Byrd Jr., and Cynthia Byrd (Brothers) Ronald Campbell, Roosevelt Campbell, (sisters, Janice Campbell, and Brenda Williams, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Also the family would like to extend a special appreciation to the Golden Team for having their backs.
