Obituary
Our beloved, Herman (HJ) Gantt Jr., also affectionately known as Bubba was born in Allendale, South Carolina on February 5, 1945. He was the first born to the late Herman Gantt Sr. and the late Janie Gantt. Herman was called to eternal-rest on the morning of Friday, April 122, 2019 at Harlem Hospital.
Herman Jr. was a lifelong resident of Harlem, NY for 63 years. He was educated in the New York City Public School system and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. He was retired from Tasty Bakery Company as a Line Operator after 340 years of service.
Herman Jr. was a proud New Yorker. He was a New York Yankees fan & NY Knicks fan. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing and was a fan of James Brown and he loved to watch Westerns. Herman Jr. was a kind and gently man and was known in the neighborhood as having a generous spirit. Herman also was a longtime friend and caregiver to Edna Walters (Natalie).
Herman Jr. leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories, (sister) Richardine LaDuna of Rahway, NJ, (brother) Willie Lee Gantt of Augusta GA (companion) Mary Capers, Her kids and grandchildren. Herman (Bubba) leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death: brother Leroy Smalls and Norman Hurst.
