Detra Denine Williams aka “Nene” was born on to Louise Williams and the late Ellis Williams. She was born in Bronx, New York. She was preceded in death by her older sister Ella Mae Williams.
Detra attended elementary school at P.S 29, middle school at St. Aldabert Catholic School and I.S 131. She continued her education at Morris High School. Later she attended the College of New Rochelle.
Detra gave her life to the Lord at Greater Victory Baptist Church in her early years. Later she joined Greater Eternal Baptist Church.
Detra was liked by all who knew her. She was a protector and nurturer. She was an awesome mother to her daughters Danesha and Kamoura Maldonaldo. She was also a mother to many of the children in her community. She had a passion for caring for others. She often extended her home to those in need. Her doors were always open to give a hot meal or a place to stay.
Detra endured her illness with a smile. She remained very strong and optimistic. She continued to live her life, refusing to surrender to her sickness.
Detra enjoyed cooking, she was a great cook. She loved cleaning her home while listening to some of her favorite music. Her favorite past time activities were to watch movies and hanging out with friends and family. She also enjoyed dancing, something she would do for hours.
She leaves to mourn her daughters Danesha Maldonaldo and Kamoura Maldonaldo, mother Louise Williams, brothers Jacob Williams, Derrick Williams, Gregory (Tiva) Williams, Ellis Williams and Samuel Williams. Sisters Katrina Perkins, Isabel Bernier and Nakia Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews, uncles Rev Larry (Gloria) McCutcheon, Danny (Brenda) McCutcheon, Lorenzo (Jacqueline) McCutcheon and Theron (Salina) McCutcheon and he beloved dog Poody.
