The dash between life and death represents a life fully lived and filled with love, sacrifice and legacy. On September 13, 2019 at Isabella Nursing Home NYC, there was a whisper into the ears of Mary Etta Jordan God whispered “ Well done my good and faithful servant, come home and take your rest. Etta answered “Yes Lord “and walked into a new beginning her heavenly home, her work was done well.
Mary Etta Jordan was the daughter of the late John and Lizzy Kingsberry. Etta was born in Henderson North Carolina on October 1, 1930.
Etta was very active in a lot of activities at the Progression Baptist Church until her health fail. She was a deaconess, president of the missionaries, member of the trustee’s board, treasure of the pastor aid club, church clerk, and member of the choir. She was also a member of the North Carolina club, the floral ministries and the Sunday school. She was a member of the Eastern Star, lily of the valley, chapter no 4, O.E.S. She was also known for her chocolate and lemon layered cake and fried chicken.
Three of her favorite songs were “Sit down Servant”, “You Can’t Hide” and “Heaven Belongs to you”.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories daughter Georgia Phillips( Kitrell N.C.), Son Robert Jordan Jr., daughter in law Francina Wallace( NYC)Grandchildren Wesley Phillips Jr., Lamont Phillips, Antwan Jordan, Daquan Jordan, Shaquan Jordan, Great grandchildren Wesley Phillips, Honacae Phillips, Imani Phillips, Lamont Phillips Jr. and Christopher Phillips, Great Grandchildren Cataleya Phillips, Valencia Phillips, Esai Luke Phillips, Sister Evelyn Maxine Taylor and brother Sylvester Kingsberry, three sisters in laws Louise Kingsberry, Annie Kingsberry and Maxine Jordan. A host of cousins, nieces, uncles, aunts and friends one special friend Beverly Adjemon.
