He was raised in Harlem. He was baptized at Greater Calvary Baptist Church. As a young boy he delivered newspapers. Stanley loved working with his hands. He would take things apart and put them back together (like a radio). He also could draw just about anything. He was a member of the Harlem Boys Club, YMCA, and CYO. He loved basketball, baseball, and was a excellent swimmer. He always looked forward for summer vacations to go visit our family in Virginia. As an adult he loved riding his bike, taking great care of his cars, and playing chess with his friends. He like to cook and was great at it.
He graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School in Bronx, NY. He attended Bronx Community College for a year and a half. Later he started working as a helper for a tractor trailer delivery service in Brooklyn, NY. While working for them he took the test for Motorman for the MTA.
